AbiWord

AbiWord is a free and open-source word processor. It is written in C++ and since version 3 it is based on GTK+ 3. The name "AbiWord" is derived from the root of the Spanish word "abierto", meaning "open".[3] AbiWord was originally started by SourceGear Corporation as the first part of a proposed AbiSuite but was adopted by open source developers after SourceGear changed its business focus and ceased development. It now runs on Linux, ReactOS, Solaris, AmigaOS 4.0 (through its Cygwin X11 engine), MeeGo (on the Nokia N9 smartphone), Maemo (on the Nokia N810), QNX and other operating systems. Development of a version for Microsoft Windows ended due to lack of maintainers (the latest released versions are 2.8.6 and 2.9.4 beta).[4]

ACCENT

Accent for Windows was a groundbreaking, multilingual word processor released in 1994 by Accent Software International, an Israeli software company founded by Jeffrey Woolf. At a time when Microsoft Windows had limited regional support, Accent was revolutionary for allowing users to type, edit, and spellcheck documents in over 30 languages using multiple alphabets within a single document.

Key Features of Accent for Windows:

Multilingual Engine: It supported Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, and Hebrew alphabets, allowing users to write fluidly across different language systems.
Bidirectional Text: The software elegantly handled right-to-left scripts (like Arabic and Hebrew) and left-to-right scripts in the exact same paragraph.
Integrated Translation Aids: It included multi-language spellcheckers, hyphenation tools, and integrated translation dictionaries.
Interactive Keyboards: Users could map international layouts onto a standard US QWERTY keyboard without changing their underlying operating system configuration.

DocBook

DocBook is a semantic markup language for technical documentation. It was originally intended for writing technical documents related to computer hardware and software, but it can be used for any other sort of documentation.[1] As a semantic language, DocBook enables its users to create document content in a presentation-neutral form that captures the logical structure of the content; that content can then be published in a variety of formats, including HTML, XHTML, EPUB, PDF, man pages, WebHelp[2] and HTML Help, without requiring users to make any changes to the source. In other words, when a document is written in DocBook format it becomes easily portable into other formats, rather than needing to be rewritten.

T602

Text602 (also abbreviated as T602) is a Czechoslovak WYSIWYG word processor for IBM PC-compatible computers running the DOS operating system; it was particularly widespread in the first half of the 1990s. It allows for deployment in a computer network,[1] as well as—without the need for additional software—the use of characters from national alphabets (primarily Czech and Slovak, but also German and Cyrillic) and several different keyboard layouts. Runnable even on XT-class computers, Text602 operates in graphics mode. See description
