Please note, There are 2 different binaries one NON MSI for Windows 2000, XP and second MSI for Windows 7,8,9,10,11. Non MSI driver can work on higher Windows, but there is some ineffectiwity with using legacy endpoints. MSI driver cannot work on older systems, it needs functionality that is not available. The problem between Windows 7 and Windows 10 driver is with signing certifficate. The code is binary identical. Root certificate for Windows 7 expired. Driver signed for Windows 10 could be installed on Windows 7 and it looks like unsigned. But it works fine even when certificate is required and no unsigned driver is alloved.
