A partial screen-grab of the
stock Linux X Mosaic 2.7b1 attempting to display the 16-bit pond-rings
image from Glenn R-P's page (accessible via the "related PNG links"
page:  http://quest.jpl.nasa.gov/PNG/pngmisc.html).

The stock version did not crash on me, but it sure as heck doesn't look
good, either.  My guess is that memory is being overwritten somewhere
and my custom (progressive) changes pushed it over the edge.  Then again,
maybe it's a problem in libpng 0.71; 0.81 crashed Mosaic 2.7b1 on *any*
PNG image.  I didn't bother to debug that problem yet.  I do probably
have a bug of my own in the PNG code since the little PNG image on the
above URL no longer displays correctly; no clue why not.
